Hector Minto has worked in the field of Assistive Technology and AAC for 17 years. In every role Hector has developed assessment methods and challenged preconceptions for existing technologies. On joining Tobii Technology in 2009, Hector quickly realised that eyegaze was being reserved for those people who could prove its use at assessment. He set about developing the hugely successful “EyeGaze Learning Curve” which now allows people with profound disabilities the opportunity to start their access and AAC journey at a much earlier and more beneficial stage. Without doubt, Hector’s work has influenced the decision makers and policy makers in health and education, thus enabling many more people to communicate and access meaningful play, interaction and exploration.
